Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) is an advanced form of external radiation that delivers high doses of radiation with extreme precision. Originally developed from techniques used in stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumors, SBRT is now used to treat tumors throughout the body—especially those near sensitive organs or in areas prone to movement, like the chest and abdomen.
Using 3D imaging and real-time tracking, SBRT pinpoints the exact shape, size, and location of a tumor—accurate to within 1–2 millimeters. Specialized equipment then delivers high-energy X-ray beams from multiple angles, concentrating the radiation on the tumor while minimizing exposure to nearby healthy tissue.
